Besides addressing the issue of excess capacity in post-secondary institutions of Atlantic Canada, international students also provide a potential pool of skilled workers. Their maximum potential is realized if the jobs they can get after study match their fields of education. In this survey-based study, we relate their social experiences during study with the probability of finding a matching job. A social ties index that combines various measures of social interactions is used in a logistic model to study the impact on probability of finding a matching job. Microdata are analyzed from a larger survey of academic and socioeconomic experiences of 3,584 international students who had studied in Atlantic Canada during 2017-2023.
