TABE/CABE (Webinar) – Sidewalks to Skylines – An Action Plan for Toronto’s Economy: A 10-Year Action Plan for Toronto’s Economy (2025-2035)

The City of Toronto has unveiled an ambitious economic development plan for the next decade, aiming to solidify its global economic standing. This comprehensive strategy outlines 28 key actions, with 9 focused on bolstering the economic fundamentals and 19 aimed at advancing three strategic priorities designed to not only maintain and boost Toronto’s economic competitiveness but also foster inclusivity and sustainability while driving community-based investments. The plan encompasses initiatives to revitalize Toronto’s main streets, generate high-quality employment opportunities, nurture innovative enterprises, and attract new investments, top talent, and significant international events.

Pat Tobin Pat Tobin General Manager, Economic Development and Culture - City of Toronto

 

Pat Tobin is the General Manager, Economic Development and Culture with the City of Toronto, a position he has held since October 2022. In the role, Pat oversees the City’s economic development policies and initiatives, as well as the City’s support to the culture sector spanning heritage, the arts and the creative industries. Prior to assuming the General Manager role, Pat was Director, Arts and Culture Services from 2017-2022.

Prior to joining the City of Toronto, Pat spent 18 years with the Canadian federal government, working in areas such as culture, civic engagement, and economic development, including stints in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. In Pat’s last assignment with the federal government, as Director General with the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, Pat oversaw supports for the innovation economy and community economic development. Outside of government, Pat has worked with the Maytree Foundation on creating a global network of arrival cities to advance newcomer integration and the Inuit Art Foundation on expanding markets for Inuit culture.

Born in Scarborough, and now a long-time resident of Leslieville, Pat is the father to three young kids and active in his community.
