TABE Webinar: Economic Policymaking in Practice: In Conversation with Sean Speer

TABE

Economic policymaking is challenging at the best of times, but never more so than during a crisis with a minority government. In Canada, this was as true during the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) as it is today. At that time, Prime Minister Stephen Harper had just won reelection and the opposition was looking for an opportunity to form the government. And among the people working to help guide the country through those turbulent times was Sean Speer, Senior Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister. Since that time, Sean has established himself as a leading economic policy thinker in Canada, and is a frequent contributor to the public policy discussion through his academic and advisory work and in the pages of major national newspapers. Please join us for a discussion with Sean on lessons learned from the GFC that apply today and how policy may evolve as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
