Vice President; Data, Research & Policy
The newly created role of Vice President, Data, Research & Policy will play a critical role in the policy frameworks and economic strategy that drives strategic investment within the Metro Vancouver region. This is a key leadership role within Metro Vancouver’s Regional Economic Prosperity Service (REPS) which fosters collaboration to advance economic opportunity and more broadly shared prosperity, improved quality of life and environmental sustainability. Working with a cross- section of regional leaders, REPS exists to foster greater regional collaboration, advise leaders on sound economic policy and strategy, to brand the region and its key industries to a global audience and to attract strategic investment to the region. A core component of the service’s work is to undertake economic research and applied policy analysis to inform economic development decision-making in order to attract strategic investment into the region.
The Vice President, Data, Research & Policy leads a team committed to ensuring REPS achieves its strategic goals – using data and research to define the possible, while identifying and navigating potential policy challenges. To this end, the Vice President, Data, Research & Policy works closely with multi-level government partners to identify opportunities for REPS to access and utilize resources and capacity in order to amplify strategic investment within the Metro Vancouver region. The Vice President, Data, Research & Policy leads a highly professional team and is also a member of REPS leadership team, supporting the achievement of the organization’s services, mission, vision, and mandate.
The ideal candidate is an experienced and respected data, research and policy leader who has worked in the policy, regulatory and economic development fields to allow for meaningful strategic investment and downstream activities to occur. They have worked in a complex public sector environment, economic development entity or large “think-tank” where relationships are key to moving an agenda forward. The ideal candidate is an enabler who supports new ideas and concepts and finds a way forward amongst competing priorities. They are known as a credible expert, who operates with integrity, and they are also an effective leader of professional teams and can support team members’ growth and development.
