David Williams

Vice President of Policy at the Business Council of British Columbia

David Williams is Vice President of Policy at the Business Council of British Columbia, where he leads the Council’s research and strategic advice to government on economic policy, productivity, competitiveness, and taxation.

David’s international career spans Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia. He has served as Senior Economist at the Bank of Canada, Lecturer in Economics at Oxford University, and PhD Research Intern at the International Monetary Fund. In Australia, he held senior policy and advisory roles, including Senior Adviser for Economic Policy at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, and Policy Adviser for Maritime Shipping Policy at Queensland’s Department of Transport.

He is a member of the B.C. government’s Economic Forecast Council, and the Immediate Past President of the Association of Professional Economists of British Columbia.

David holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Philosophy in economics from Oxford University.
