TABE In-person Luncheon: Path to Net Zero: Ron Saporta, Chief Operating Officer, University of Toronto
Over the course of 2024/25, one of the TABE event themes is dealing with climate change through transitioning towards net zero carbon emissions. Ron Saporta, University of Toronto Chief Operating Officer, will present the transition of the University of Toronto, both its plan and the results-to-date. Under the plan, the downtown St. George Campus will become the world’s first “climate positive” and “GHG negative” post-secondary campus by 2050. The University was recognized for this ambitious plan and its implementation-to-date as the most sustainable university in the world in 2023 and 2024.
This is session has been organized by Alex Kraas and James Fudurich, both members of TABE’s Board of Directors.

Ron Saporta is the Chief Operating Officer at the University of Toronto, with over 20 years of experience in business operations, redevelopment and facilities in healthcare and higher education. In 2022, Ron was recognized for his leadership in developing and implementing the plan with the Clean 16 and Clean 50 awards. A professional engineer, he holds a Bachelor and Master of Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
