APEBC/CABE Webinar: A Perspective on the Current Indigenous Policy Landscape

Geoff will review the legal foundations and provide an overview of the current Aboriginal law landscape, including section 35 of Canada’s Constitution and the adoption and implementation of both the BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and Canada’s United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. He will connect this legal framework to the economic outcomes it drives, including the implications of co-management on governance and economic decision-making.


Geoff Moyse Geoffrey Moyse, KC Former B.C. Government Senior Legal Counsel on Aboriginal Law

Geoffrey S. Moyse, KC has been engaged in the practice of Aboriginal law and public law for 31 years, advising several successive provincial governments as a member of the BC Ministry of Attorney General’s Legal Services Branch.

Mr. Moyse has returned from a short period of retirement to advise private clients on Aboriginal law matters and related strategic policy issues, and to provide general education on Canadian Aboriginal law and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. His is frequently published and featured in articles and podcasts, including the Northern Beat, Vancouver Sun, Troy Media, Kelowna Now, and more.

Mr. Moyse Mr. Moyse was appointed King’s Counsel in 2013.
