Every year, Canada’s Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) reports to Parliament on whether federal and provincial governments’ policies are sustainable over the long-term. This requires projecting current policies beyond the budget’s planning horizon, and provides an indication on the level of fiscal adjustment required for government debt to remain manageable. The PBO will present his latest assessment of the long-term sustainability of government finances.
