Just as Manitoba is located in the heart of Canada, the Manitoba Association for Business Economics (MABE) is uniquely positioned to serve economics professionals and those interested in economics in diverse sectors, from advanced manufacturing to agriculture; diverse roles, from policy makers to business people; and diverse perspectives, from north and south. The MABE chapter was founded in 1988, serving Manitoba’s business economists for more than 35 years.
What We Do
Our members have opportunities to connect through regular meetings, luncheons and events, all presented in a welcoming community environment that fosters the exchange of ideas, networking and relationship building. We present local, national and international economic issues, outlooks and trends with a Manitoba perspective that are relevant to our members and guests.
- Regular Luncheons and Events – From Bank of Canada officials to professionals from northern Manitoba, our keynote speakers come from a broad range of business and political sectors to present diverse issues and views and encourage dialogue around them.
- Opportunities to Get Hands-On with Manitoba Businesses – We offer the chance for members and guests to go into the field for plant tours to get first-hand insight into the workings of Manitoba’s industry and economy.
- Annual Outlook Conference – The showcase event of the year, the full-day Outlook Conference is presented every winter.
Where We Are Growing
Creating More Value
We believe MABE and CABE are an opportunity for everyone involved or interested in business economics to be part of a provincial and national community that shares similar interests. We want to make it easier to take advantage of that opportunity and enjoy more of its benefits.
Supporting Students & Young Professionals
We continue to connect with local universities to look for ways to help current students fund their studies and recent graduates successfully launch their careers in economics.
MABE Offers a Scholarship to Senior Undergraduate or Masters students who attend a Manitoba Post-Secondary Institute.

MABE is a hidden gem in Manitoba, for individuals and organizations interested in learning about and discussing economics, financial markets, fiscal situation and environmental issues.
MABE has been around for over 30 years providing an annual economic Outlook Conference and a series of Luncheon Sessions during the fall and winter months. MABE membership and cost to attend functions is one of the most affordable anywhere in Canada. A great investment to meet and network with Economists and Business Professions in Manitoba.
I encourage you to bookmark the MABE web-site and find out more about upcoming events, not only in Manitoba, but across Canada offered through affiliated Associations.
