AAAE/AEC Webinar: Women in Economics: A Dialogue on Leadership and Lived Experiences
The Atlantic Association of Applied Economists, in partnership with the Atlantic Economic Council, is hosting an International Women’s Day panel featuring three economists in leadership roles. The conversation will offer candid reflections on career paths, professional challenges, and lessons that have shaped their leadership journeys. It will be interactive, with ample time for audience questions. Attendees across the profession, from early-career economists to experienced employers, will gain practical insights they can apply in their own work and workplaces.
Rebekah Young
Vice President, Head of Inclusion and Resilience Economics, Scotiabank
Rebekah is an economist at Scotiabank. As VP & Head of Inclusion and Resilience Economics, she provides thought leadership on Canada’s long-term growth prospects. She tackles big themes including fiscal sustainability, the energy transition, housing affordability, immigration and other evolving structural forces shaping the horizon. Previously, she held senior roles at the IMF, Finance Canada, and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Lana Asaff
Senior Economist, Atlantic Economic Council
Lana is a Senior Economist at the Atlantic Economic Council. She contributes to regular analysis on the region’s economy and is the Council’s lead on net-zero and productivity research. Previously, she held positions with the Nova Scotia Department of Finance and Treasury Board, Finance Canada and the Canada Revenue Agency. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Economics from Saint Mary’s University and a Master of Arts in Economics from Queen’s University.
Katherine Ryan
Senior Economist, Nova Scotia Finance and Treasury Board
Katherine has been with the Province of Nova Scotia since 2018, holding increasingly senior roles in the Economics and Statistics Division. She leads a team of economists who produce the Province’s economic outlook, current economic analysis and impact reports. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University and Master of Arts from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.
