APEBC Webinar: Canada Needs a New Economic and Fiscal Model: Does the November 4th Budget Deliver?

Addressing the U.S. tariff threat is one of the most difficult challenges the Canadian economy has ever faced. It is made trickier because we have not tackled our longstanding problems of pathetic productivity, weak business investment and high public debt. The new and old problems interact in nasty ways. Losing relatively free access to the U.S. market reduces the incentive to invest and build scale in Canada. And weak productivity will make it difficult to secure new export markets. The new and old must be tackled together, head on, and quickly.

The federal government delivered a budget November 4th. How well does it measure up to the enormous challenges before the Canadian economy?
