CABE Webinar: Economic complexity & growth: Evidence and implications for Canada & AGM

Canada’s trade strategy has traditionally focused on two objectives: growing exports and diversifying markets. While both remain important, a third deserves equal attention: increasing Canada’s share of value capture within global value chains by strengthening the productive capabilities that underpin economic complexity. This presentation examines the relationship between economic complexity, productivity, and long-run economic growth, with a focus on Canada’s performance. It will present evidence from a regression analysis, as well as a feasibility exercise illustrating how capability-driven export upgrading could improve Canada’s long-term growth trajectory.

The AGM will take place following the presentation (1:00pm ET)
