In Person – AAAE AGM followed by “A First Look at the IRPP’s Community Transformations Project”
An interactive map of community susceptibility to workforce disruption through the low-carbon transformation
The Community Transformations Project is a multi-year research project led by the Institute for Research on Public Policy, in partnership with the Community Data Program and the Energy Mix. The project includes an interactive map which ranks Canadian communities according to their susceptibility to market and workforce transformations that are likely to arise as Canada and the world move toward net-zero emissions, along with ten detailed community profiles and a series of policy briefs exploring possible government actions to support workers and communities through a low-carbon transformation. The goal of the project is not to predict the future, but rather to explore areas of susceptibility and the policy actions that can build resilience. This webinar will present a draft version of the interactive map and provide early insights into the project’s research findings, with an opportunity for participants to provide feedback that will improve the map’s functionality and the usefulness of the policy briefs.
Ricardo Chejfec is a policy researcher and the lead data analyst at the Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP). He leads research and analysis for IRPP-authored publications, such as Towards Employment Insurance Reform and the Community Transformations Project. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science in cognitive science and a Master of Public Policy from McGill University.
