Halifax Partnership (the Partnership) is Halifax’s public-private economic development organization. Its purpose is to provide leadership and excellence in accelerating economic prosperity so that all businesses, residents, and communities have an opportunity to contribute to and benefit from Halifax’s growing prosperity. Through its unique public-private funding and governance model, it is supported by all three orders of government and over one hundred private sector and post-secondary Investors who fund, govern, and guide its work. The Partnership works in collaboration with its influential and globally connected network of public, private, post-secondary and community partners to build an inclusive, sustainable, entrepreneurial, and prosperous Halifax.

During this pivotal time of growth in Halifax, Halifax Partnership is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to join the executive team and champion the development and elevated vision for Halifax.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer translates vision into action. Responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the operational functions of Halifax Partnership, this individual will execute operational and strategic plans, oversee the accountability of core teams and ensure the organization runs smoothly and efficiently. This role will be responsible for identifying and securing government funding opportunities to support the organization’s vision and goals. Overall, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible for ensuring organizational alignment and efficiency to achieve its mandate of making Halifax a better and more prosperous place for those living here.

With the strategic direction of the organization in mind, the Chief Operating Officer will drive initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and support the team to meet their objectives. The Chief Operating Officer will foster funding opportunities, bringing new ideas to the table to ensure a constant revenue stream and building relationships that support new funding streams. Leading cross-functional teams, the Chief Operating Officer will ensure that operational objectives are aligned with the Partnership’s overall vision and goals and that staff have the resources and tools to successfully deliver on those goals.
Ideal Candidate Profile

As the ideal candidate, you are a dynamic, seasoned leader with proven experience and understanding of the broad range of functions within a diverse, multi-stakeholder environment. Ideally, you have had direct or indirect experience with the public sector, private and not-for-profit organizations. You are adaptable with a reputation for fostering a work environment characterized by respect, collaboration, inclusivity, and productivity at all levels. Strategic, analytic and results-oriented, you possess strong operational leadership skills. You have the strategic aptitude and the high degree of business judgment needed to optimize organizational efforts to efficiently turn goals into results.

A natural collaborator, you have a deep appreciation for creating and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships within your community and region. Empathetic and authentic in your leadership style, you are a highly effective communicator and an innovative leader who can motivate and inspire your team to work towards a common vision. You are reliable and credible and approach your work with the highest degree of integrity, effectively creating an environment where your team and organizational partners feel supported, empowered, and engaged.

You are a highly operational leader, tactically savvy, and a clear communicator with strong business and financial acumen.
