Economist
$83,313.86 – $95,028.49 annually, which includes a 3.3% temporary market adjustment

As the provincial government expert on the economics of, and on economic data available for, the British Columbia forest sector, the Economist develops, compiles, maintains and analyzes information and business intelligence on the forest products industry to support innovation and bioeconomy development in British Columbia. This position designs and implements economic modelling projects and statistical analysis for the purpose of providing advice and reports used by government officials to make policy decisions affecting the forest sector of British Columbia.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Economics, Natural Resource Economics, Forestry, or a closely related field such as statistics, business/commerce, mathematics, or sustainable resource management plus five (5) years of *related experience

OR

  • Masters degree, preferably in Economics, Natural Resource Economics, Forestry, or a closely related field such as statistics, business/commerce, mathematics, or sustainable resource management plus three (3) years of *related experience

OR

  • , preferably in Economics, Natural Resource Economics, Forestry, or a closely related field such as statistics, business/commerce, mathematics, or sustainable resource management plus two (2) years of *related experience.

*Related Experience must include:

  • Experience conducting quantitative and/or qualitative economic studies
  • Experience in the design and implementation of statistical analysis and economic modelling projects
  • Directly related work experience in economics, business development or natural resource-based research and analytics.
