Mary Mckay
Director General, Regulatory and Crown Consultation Branch, Natural Resources CanadaMary McKay is the Director General of the Regulatory Coordination, Crown Consultation Advice and Indigenous Economic Inclusion Branch, in the Nòkwewashk Sector of Natural Resources Canada. In this role, Mary is responsible for policy and program development of approaches to better harmonize the regulatory and permitting systems for key projects, provide advice and support Crown consultation coordination for certain projects and create policy options that support meaningful Indigenous economic inclusion in the natural resource sector. Mary is also responsible for reporting on the remaining accommodation measures and their status in relation to the TMX project.
Prior to this role, Mary spent the past two years working at Infrastructure Canada as the Director General of Alternative Finance where she was responsible for the portfolio oversight of crown corporations, including the Canada Infrastructure Bank. Mary has also been the Director General of Strategy at Shared Services Canada where she was responsible for strategic planning, legislative and policy authorities for the department and helping the Public Service to be ready for remote work throughout the pandemic. She also led the stabilization of funding for the security and safety of the people, information and infrastructure of Canada’s missions abroad as Senior Director Transformation at Global Affairs Canada.
Mary is a proud Haligonian and holds two degrees from Dalhousie University and graduated from the Certificate Program for Public Sector Leadership and Governance at the University of Ottawa in 2021. She is a mother of two humans and two furry non-humans and is a dedicated fitness nut and podcast listener.
